Whitechapel Office Space

Whitechapel office space is associated with an area that represents particular values of the metropolis of London. It embodies diversity, equality, inclusion, humanitarianism, and progression.

Located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, the district has often been used to represent the East End in art and literature due to its location in East London. The locale is primarily built around Whitechapel High Street and Whitechapel Road, which extend from the City of London, and it is therefore often described as a City Fringe location.

It is named after its chapel of ease, dedicated to St. Mary, which dates back to the 1300s. Like the White Tower at the Tower of London, it was constructed from limewashed stone rubble to give it a prominent and attractive appearance.

The chapel was rebuilt several times; however, its Victorian-era incarnation, which was its most recent, was destroyed during the Blitz in World War II.

On the site stands Altab Ali Park, which was created in the 1980s to honour the memory of the Bengali victim of a racist attack.

Some elements of the chapel were preserved and restored, and they are featured in the park today.

From the late 19th to the late 20th century, Whitechapel had a sizeable Jewish population, and it subsequently became a significant settlement for the British Bangladeshi community. The East London Mosque is located on Whitechapel Road and was opened in 1985. It is one of the largest mosques in Western Europe, accommodating more than 7,000 worshippers for congregational prayers.

The East London district is also known for the Whitechapel Bell Foundry, which was established in 1570. It was here that Big Ben was cast, and the Liberty Bell – the iconic symbol of American independence, which is located in Philadelphia.

Whitechapel is also home to the Royal London Hospital, which is home to one of the largest children’s hospitals in the UK and London’s Air Ambulance. From its helipad on the 17th floor, the Air Ambulance treated five critically ill patients per day in 2024.

The diverse district is home to an eclectic range of businesses that can choose from an array of office buildings, including brand new Grade A office buildings with ultramodern business technologies, and period buildings that have been elegantly renovated, refurbished and retrofitted to provide contemporary office space with state-of-the-art amenities whilst preserving, restoring and featuring the original features that represent the heritage of Whitechapel.

Both forms of office building provide office space that can be rented conventionally via a lease. This provides a long-term, ready-to-fit office and complete autonomy over the fit-out, furnishing, and management of the space. There is also a growing number of premium flexible workspace solutions in Whitechapel, including luxury managed office space and high-end serviced offices.

One such example is 133 Whitechapel High Street, which is located to benefit from the amenities of both Whitechapel and Aldgate.

The restored Art Deco building offers decadent private offices for teams of 2 to 2,000. The space is ready to move into and available on flexible terms.

Clients have the option to customise their office space to their needs, and the rent is all-inclusive, covering superfast broadband, heating, air conditioning, water, energy, professional cleaning, and other overheads that would be paid for and managed separately if renting an office in Whitechapel on conventional terms.

The well-behaved dog-friendly building is amenity-rich, with a café, gym, lounges, fully stocked kitchens, breakout spaces, phone booths, and a roof terrace.

It is one of the many first-class office buildings in Whitechapel that is managed in a sustainable and ESG-conscious way. This means it offers end-of-journey amenities for self-powered commuters, including bike storage, showers, lockers and changing facilities.

However, the district offers excellent public transport links from Whitechapel Station. The station is somewhat of an anomaly as commuters find the underground services above ground and the overground services below ground. The station also has its entrance signage in both English and Bengali.

Aldgate and Aldgate East stations are also nearby, as is Fenchurch Street Station.
